Editing, Color Correcting, and Retouching

I love editing. That love is equal parts the satisfaction of using little-known technical tricks to make stellar images, mixed with enjoying a healthy outlet for meticulously fixing small details while listening to hours of 90s music.

As a freelance editor and retoucher, I enjoy incorporating a mixture of techniques I've picked up while working on a vast scope of projects throughout my career.

During my humble beginnings as a wedding photographer, I successfully post-processed well over 60,000 images collectively to have a uniform look and stay consistent with our company's branding despite varying camera models, photographers, lighting conditions, locations, and subjects.

As a digital marketer/photographer hybrid, I have retouched, composited, and corrected, thousands of photographs to meet various brand guidelines while adding that extra oomph that images for digital advertising require.

I've always loved being a behind-the-scenes player. When my friends in high school decided to try out for the leads in our school play, I rolled up my sleeves and put my name down for stage crew. Learning new things is my ultimate favorite. The trickier and more technical it is, the better.

With proficiency in compositing, luminosity masking, frequency separation, mastery of blending modes, color toning, preset creation, skin retouching, tone mapping, and countless other Photoshop and Lightroom skills, your post-processing project is something I'd love to take a crack at!

Post-processing for Shelby Cooper Photography blending a series of exposures to create a clean but natural final interior image.

In this photo by Shelby Cooper Photography, there was quite a bit of clean-up involved in addition to the typical exposure blending and compositing work. Part retoucher, part digital landscaper!

Here was a super fun project where I was tasked with creating a signature editing style for a local clothing brand. We wanted give the photos a cool, stylized filmy feel without distracting or departing too far from the appearance of the clothing.

This was a challenging personal project that helped me grow early in my career. I photographed a friend's classic VW beetle at a local park. To get the results in the original daytime photo, there were lots of little things to edit out like a basketball court in the background and debris in the street. Stoked on the results, I decided to up the ante as far as altering reality went, and changed the time of day for a totally different feel.

Such a fun retouching project to add a smoky 1920's lounge vibe to this portrait!

Due to the behind-the-scenes nature of post-processing - like copyright courtesies and limited space - most editing projects don't make it to my website. I'd be happy to share more about my process and show off more examples, so give me a shout!
